About Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)

In the year 1935 Federal Public Service Commission in the Act of Indian Government of 1935 the initial provision was prepared. The First Public Service Commission was recognized in 1926 in India; though it had only restricted rights and consultative functions. The Constituent Assembly, later the freedom of the country, felt the necessity for giving a protected and independent status to Public Service Commissions to both state and provincial level and their object was to guarantee unbiased employment and security of service interest. In the year 1950, as per the new constitution of the country it appeared as distinct unit and was named as Union Public Service Commission and the HO is situated in New Delhi.

As per the syllabus in the year 2011 this section contains a total score of 200 marks where applicant has to whole paper in two hours.

An applicant must be min. 21 years old and must not have reached at the age of 30 years in the year of exams. Agreed age restrictions may differ with respect to the class reservation structure For OBC class max age limit is 35 years.

Notification delivered by Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the public service examinations in 2014 that, applicant performing for the examinations, who is entitled, shall be allowed six attempts (two more than previous four).
