DU admission process will be delayed, students will have to wait and wait

Students seeking admission in Delhi University will have to wait a little longer for the application process. The possible schedule released by the university (which was to start the admission process from June 8) has been postponed further. Last month, the university set possible dates for possible registration between June 8 and June 30 for admission to undergraduate, post graduate, MPhil and PhD. The first cutoff for undergraduate courses was to be done from August 11 to August 14.

Earlier on May 29, the Standing Committee meeting of the Academic Council could not be held. Many DU officials say that since the meeting has not been held, the dates are set to move forward.

Arun Kumar Atri, a member of the Standing Committee, said that registration for admission could not start from Monday as the meeting of the Standing Committee could not be held. We have also not been informed when the next meeting will take place. However, we are hopeful that the registration process will begin in the next 10 days. The registration will be in two stages – in the first students will register for admission. In the second he will enter details of his marks. After the declaration of the exam result by CBSE, 10 days time will be given again to update the 12th marks. The cutoff will be released a week after this.

Teacher representatives also protested about the previously released calendar and prospectus. A member of the DU Admission Committee, on the condition of anonymity, said that the previously released schedule was only probable as we are facing an unexpected situation. It is important to brainstorm many aspects before making things public.

The possible dates for the 12 UG courses entrance exam have been set from 27 July to 10 August. The entrance examination will be conducted from the National Testing Agency. A member of the Admission Branch said that the registration process should be stopped a month in advance only then the NTA database will be able to prepare the admit card.

DU will enroll 15 percent more seats this time according to the number of seats in 2018.
