QS World Ranking 2021: Only 3 institutes of India among the top 200 institutes of the world, slipped 20 places, IIT Bombay, the best institute in the country.

QS, the agency issuing the ranking of leading institutions in the world, has released the ranking of 2021. Only eight institutions from India have got a place in the top 500 in the world. India’s prestigious technical institute IIT Bombay tops the list of Indian institutes but this time it has slipped 20 places. While its rank was 152nd in QS ranking 2020, this time it has reached 172nd.

According to the ranking, a total of 21 Indian institutes are included in the top 1000 institutions.

– Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore is ranked 185 this year.
– IIT Delhi 193rd, IIT Madras 275th, IIT Kharagpur 314th, IIT Kanpur 350th, IIT Roorkee 383rd, IIT Guwahati 470th.

MIT Institute of America tops the world for 9th consecutive year
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of America has secured the first position for the 9th consecutive year. Stanford is ranked second, Howard third and California University fourth. These are all American universities. The fifth place is awarded to Oxford University of UK.

The compilers said that Indian higher educational institutions do well in terms of research. But the universities here lag behind rival global institutions in terms of academic, teaching capacity, globalization level.

Ben Sauvatar of QS said, ‘Institutions around the world are doing well to move up the rankings. Institutions in India have to improve their teaching capacity to improve their performance in the rankings. At the same time, it will have to connect talented students and faculty from other countries as well.

QS rankings are given keeping in mind six things – Academic, Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty Student Ratio, Faculty Level, International Faculty Ratio, International Students’ Ratio.
